Obituary for Anna L. Bures

Anna L. Bures, 86, of Fair Lawn, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2022. Born in New York City and raised in Spanish Harlem, as the third youngest of 10 children. She married Louis Bures and settled in Fair Lawn, NJ to raise her family. Active in her community, especially St. Anne’s Church; she was loved by many family member, friends, and neighbors for her generous spirit and the infectious joy that she brought to life. She enjoyed reading and writing, playing games, and watching movies; always seeking new opportunities to learn and to play. She kept a young spirit, until her last days. She found great joy in spending time with family and friends, and especially children.

She is survived by her son, Gregory Bures; daughter, Joanna Bures; son-in-law, Glenn Saxe; sister, Lucy Askew; brother, Tony Velez; grandchildren, James Bures, Ryan Saxe, and Benjamin Saxe; great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to her beloved niece, Mary Scanlon, for her care during the most difficult of times. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 4:00pm – 8:00 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Colonial Funeral Home, (vpfairlawn.com), 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ. Anna’s funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Church on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m., 15-05 St. Anne St., Fair Lawn. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Contributions in Anna’s memory may be made to St. Anne’s Church (stannefairlawnnj.org) or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Program (stjude.org)
