Obituary for Bashir Robert Sayegh

Bashir Robert Sayegh, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22,2023. He was born in Brooklyn, grew up in Paterson and lived in Fair Lawn, NJ.

He was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, and most of his life was spent applying the principles of the Corps to succeed in life - and he did.

He spent 30 years teaching high school English, yearbook and film at Passaic Valley Regional High School in Little Falls, which he loved. Teaching was his passion - both in and out of the classroom.

Bob was the kindest man, and made a friend of everyone he met. People were drawn to him. He had an unwavering sense of loyalty and dependability. He was a man a character. If you were lucky enough to know him, you were lucky!

He enjoyed golfing, photography, travel, movies, books, gardening, creative art, puttering around the house, skiing (when he could), Fox News, the company of his friends, and most especially, his family. He was the truest of a family man - always placing the wants and needs of others above his own, without complaint. He was a real Renaissance man.

He will forever be painfully missed by his wife of near 61 years, JoAnn; daughter Tracy Sayegh-Hessami; son Rob, his fiancée Darby Mistak; and five adored grandchildren: Taylor Sayegh, Bashira Hessami, Will Sayegh, Alexander Hessami and Riley Sayegh.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to: Marine Corps League Foundation, P.O. Box 468, Stone Mountain, GA 30086-0468.

Please help us celebrate a life well lived and used up. He did it his way!
