Daniel J. Ferris of Fair Lawn, 97, passed away at his home with his family at his side. He was born in New York City to Daniel and Catherine (Lavin) Ferris. Daniel joined the United States Navy on January 13, 1944 and proudly served his country for two years.
Daniel married Margaret Haggerty in 1950. They raised their three children in Guttenberg, NJ and enjoyed 28 years of marriage before her passing. Daniel married Mary McGarry in 1986 and enjoyed 27 years of marriage before her passing.
Daniel worked for PSE&G in Kearney, NJ for many years before his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Anne's Church in Fair Lawn, NJ. Daniel was an avid walker and he also loved spending time with family and friends and was loved by many.
Daniel is survived by his loving children: John (Maureen), Peggy Bolger (Philip), Eileen Grabowski (Donald). Four grandchildren: Sara Ferris (Patrick), Jonathan Ferris, Lauren Boniewicz (Joseph), Daniel Bolger (Melissa) and five great-grandchildren: Ella, Declan, Charlotte, Riley, Elise and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his three stepchildren Jackie, Kevin and Katherine Freitag. Daniel was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Catherine, his wives Margaret and Mary and his four siblings, Thomas, Catherine, Peggy and Jimmy.
