Obituary for Edward J. Grzesiak

Edward Joseph Grzesiak, Jr, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on December 10, 2022, after nearly three years of bravely battling cancer. He was 73 years old. Edward was born in Passaic General Hospital on August 25, 1949, to father, Edward Joseph Grzesiak, Sr., and mother, Ann Grzesiak. He attended St. Stanislaus Kostka School, Garfield High School, and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a marketing degree.

On a blind date, he met Mary Park, and they married in 1972. He considered Mary to be his rock, and at times his voice, but always his best friend. At the age of 33, his lucky number, Ed became a father to Colleen. The Grzesiak family enjoyed traveling together and are blessed to have vacation memories shared with family and friends in Florida, Utah, California, South Carolina, etc. Ed was often called upon to travel throughout the USA and Asia during his career, learning new cultures and trying new menus abroad, while working for Polo Ralph Lauren as a finance/ inventory manager for 14 years and Titan Trading as a Hong Kong liaison afterward.

To know Ed is to know that he loved the game of golf. He played every chance he got, whether on world-famous courses or simply chipping in the yard. He knew success is not measured by holes-in-one, but rather times shared having fun.
Ed was a proudly active member of St. Anne’s Church in Fair Lawn. There, as well as at Saint Catherine’s Church in Glen Rock, he founded the Saint Cajetan Ministry for Unemployed/ Underemployed, and worked to help others for 13 years. Ed loved being a Cornerstone brother for over 20 years, cherishing the friendships made at retreats. He was a member of a Small Christian Community for 18 years. Ed enjoyed bowling with Mary and friends in the St. Anne’s Bowling League, and was a Knight of Columbus.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Natalie. He is survived by his wife, Mary Grzesiak; daughter, Colleen Kiick; son-in-law, Dallas Kiick (whose cooking he loved!); grandchildren, Delaney and Callan Kiick. Ed was always a true friend to animals and loved his furry friends, Ozzie, Gus, and Jacks very much.
