Obituary for Dolores & Fred von Recklinghausen
Dolores and Fred passed away suddenly on November 3, 2022. Dolores was 82 years old and Fred was 79 years old.
Dolores was the daughter of Hendrich and Henrietta and born and raised in Ridgefield Park, NJ. After graduating from Ridgefield Park High School, Dolores went to work for New Jersey Bell.
Fred was the son of Frederick and Anna and born and raised in Hoboken, NJ. He graduated from A.J. Demarest High School in Hoboken and also The United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. After graduation, Fred became an officer on US flagged Merchant Marine vessels throughout the world retiring in the mid 1990’s as a Captain. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
Fred and Dolores met in 1970 and eloped in 1971. Dolores was a homemaker for 10 years and then returned to work as an executive assistant for AT&T, also retiring in the mid 1990’s. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
During retirement they enjoyed traveling with their dogs. They traveled the country for decades in a motorhome. They enjoyed meeting new people on their travels and also looked forward to traveling with friends they made along the way. Later in life, they began to travel the world on ocean and river cruises.
Dolores and Fred leave behind their loving son Tom and his wife Alex; cherished grandsons Matthew and Andrew; dear sister and her husband Ann & George, dear sister-in-law Ann. They also leave behind their nieces and nephews, Donna & Mike, Henny & Sue, Jim, Larry, William, Wendy & Keith, and Kenny.
Dolores is predeceased by her parents, and her three brothers: William, Neil, and Henny and by her niece, Cory. Fred was predeceased by his parents.
