Obituary for Joseph Cilento (Cilento)

CILENTO, Joseph, 82, of Elmwood Park passed away on December 9, 2022. Joseph was born in Paterson to the late Joseph and Angelina Cilento. He was raised in Paterson before moving to Elmwood Park in 1970. He honorably served in the US Army. Enlisting in Ft. Dix in 1958, he served in Munich Germany as a turret mechanic working on tanks in the 34th armor division, 24th infantry and was honorably discharge from Ft. Bragg in 1961. Joseph was an auto mechanic and was the owner of the Cilento Service Center in Paterson for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baking his favorite cookies, and loved spending time with family and friends at the Jersey shore. Joseph was a huge NY Giants fan, a season ticket holder, and loved watching football. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Joseph was the devoted husband of Gloria (Zoppo) Cilento for 58 years. Beloved father of Joseph A. Cilento and his wife Cynthia, Kimberly A. Kostick and her husband John and Patrick B. Cilento. Loving grandfather of Dillon, John, Nicholas, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Breanna, Tyler, Derrick, and Salvatore. Dear brother of Roseann Coons and her husband John and Mariann Owens and her husband David. Joseph is also survived by many family members.

Friends and family may visit the Cilento family on Monday, December 12, 2022, from 4-8 PM at the Vander Plaat Colonial Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair lawn, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at St. Annes RC Church on Tuesday December 13 at 9:30 AM. Entombment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Josephs name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN.
