Obituary for Lorraine G Bird (Bosch)

Lorraine G. Bird passed away on Oct. 30, 2022, of natural causes after receiving the loving care of her daughters and friends at the Sunrise Senior Living community in Paramus, N.J. She was 92 years old.

She was born in Maspeth, N.Y., to Henry and Catherine (nee Missel) Bosch. She was blessed in marriage for 68 years with the love of her life, Robert Bird, whom she met when they were in the same kindergarten class. Later, they would get married and raise their two daughters on Long Island, in Commack, N.Y. Together they moved to Paramus in 2018 to be near their daughters.

Lorraine cherished her life's work as a wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, needlework and hosting family and friends at home for holidays, barbecues and all kinds of parties. While her daughters were in school, she often volunteered as a class mother and enjoyed bowling with other mothers during the day. She was always at home waiting for the girls to get back from school, and had a wonderful dinner on the table every night.

She was active in Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, in Commack, and the First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown, in Smithtown, N.Y. She enjoyed making regular trips to the Metropolitan Opera with girlfriends. She was a lover of music and animals and children, and she had an incredible gift for connecting with people and making all who knew her feel at ease in her company.

Lorraine leaves behind her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Alison Muldoon (Charles) and Laura Bird (Michael Bennett); and her cherished grandchildren, Kevin Muldoon, Brendan Muldoon, Erin Muldoon, Julian Bennett and Catherine Bennett. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Bird, in 2020, her parents Henry and Catherine Bosch, and her brother, William H. Bosch.
