Maria do Ceu Pires, 72, of Paramus on September 4, 2022. Born in Bravaes Portugal she immigrated to the United States in 1969 and lived in Paterson. Before moving to Paramus 10 years ago she had lived in Glen Rock. Before her retirement in 2015, Maria was a mail carrier for the Totowa post office. She attended Our Lady of Visitation RC Church in Paramus.

Maria was the beloved mother of Maria Chomik and her husband Edward and Henrique Pires, Jr and his wife Brendaly. Loving grandmother of Ashley Pires and her partner Fernando Rodriguez, Rique Pires, Jesse Chomik and Sadie Chomik. Great grandmother of Maya and Charli. Dear sister of Lino, Antonio, Jose Maria and Maria Clara, all of Portugal. Maria is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at the Vander Plaat Colonial Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road Fair lawn on Thursday from 4-8 PM. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Visitation Church, 234 North Farview Ave., Paramus, NJ on Friday 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at George Washington Memorial Cemetery, Paramus, NJ
