Obituary for Michael J. Regan

Michael J Regan February 28, 1927- December 11, 2022 (age 95) It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Joseph Regan who went back to the Lord on December 11, 2022 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Bernice (Gartland) Regan to whom he was married 64 years, He is survived by his six children, Debra Piccirillo (Stephen), Michael Regan (Kristan), Thomas Regan (Kathleen), Christi Regan (John), Ann Marie Sheehan (Michael), and James Regan (Cathy).

Mike grew up in the Bronx, NY, attended Power Memorial, and after serving in the Army, attended Manhattan
College from which he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Mike was a successful salesman his whole life, often winning top salesman awards. He first sold bread, then beer, then real estate, then mortgages. At times he worked three jobs to enable him to send all of his children to Catholic Primary and High School and put them all through college. His engaging personality served as an asset which he also used to help the church. He was involved in many
capital campaigns and his outgoing demeanor provided many positive results. Mike was also involved with the church as a Knight of Columbus, a eucharistic minister, a lector, and later in life, a tenor in St. Anne’s choir. Mike was always ready to share a good story, many of which have been treasured by his family, especially his nineteen grandchildren and his twenty-one great grandchildren by whom he was known as “Grandfather”. He was known by his nieces and nephews as “Fun Uncle Mike” and was the life of every party! He loved to be playful with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, encourage family singalongs and of course hear his beautiful Bunny sing. She always referred to him as “a man with a heart of a boy”. Mike and Bunny loved to dance and would often be the “couple to watch” on the dance floor.
He enjoyed cooking for his expanding family, serving many delicious meals. After retirement he and Bunny, his wife, loved to travel, often going on road trips across the country, and visiting other countries as well. Mike loved his faith, his family, and his country.
