Sofia Papaioannou passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 28, 2022. Born in Ktismata, Greece she emigrated to the United State in 1970 settling in New York. Sofia was a long-time resident of Fair Lawn. Before retiring she was the owner and operator of her own taxi company in New York City. To best describe Sofia, A mother seems to understand the things that can’t be said; a mother goes beyond our words and reads our hearts instead. A mother shows the love she knows with tenderness so true; When God gave me a mother, I’m glad God gave me you. Our beloved Sofia is survived by her loving husband Vasilios whom she was married to for 52 years; sons: Alex and Pete (wife Maria); daughter Polixeni, her husband Leo; closest sister Georgia and her husband Theodore; sisters Athina, Eleutheria, Aphrodite; brother Vasilios; grandchildren William, Pete and Maya. Sofia is also survived by nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
