Obituary for William F. Burns

William F. Burns, 92, passed away on Sept 18. He was born in Bronx, NY on October 18, 1929 and moved to Fair Lawn in 1955. William worked for Bergen Community College as an HVAC/Engineer before retiring. After his retirement, Bill had some small jobs that included working for Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home and taking care of his grandson Billy. He was an exempt fireman of Fair Lawn Company #4.
He was a Corporal in the US Army and served from 1951-1952 in the Korean War as a Combat Engineer. He was an active member of American Legion Post 171 and Taejon Chapter 170 of the Korean War Veterans.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56yrs, Elaine; two daughters, Teresa (John) Kelly of Wayne and Linda Orth of Fair Lawn; five grandchildren, Billy, Jimmy and Johnny Kelly, and Samantha and Leah Orth and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John, brothers John, Thomas, Joseph and James and son-in-law George.
